Edimax BR-6574n

details: Wireless IEEE802.11 b/g/n Gigabit Broadband Router
hardware type: Wireless Router
date added: 2009-10-29
updated: 2015-02-05
The BR-6574n is a wireless N broadband router. It has a single 10/100/1000Base-T WAN port and four 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet LAN ports. Using advanced MIMO technology, it's wireless data transmission rate can be 12 times better (up to 300Mbps) and the coverage can be 6 times better than a standard 802.11g/b router.

The integrated access point complies with the IEEE 802.11n (draft 2.0) standard. It can operate in different modes, including access point, wireless client, wireless bridge and repeater. It supports WEP and WPA/WPA2 wireless encryption. A WPS button allows for worry-free wireless security configuration.

The BR-6574n can be configured via Web-based configuration utility, including quick setup wizard.

I have used this router for about two years and have the worst experiences with it I possibly could. This thing gave me so many problems that I unwillingly became an expert on routers setups, firmware updates and all kinds of stuff I never hoped to get involved with. I almost smashed it to pieces once. The worst piece of equipment I ever experienced.
It constantly and almost daily gave me problems! A total nightmare. And this honestly is no exaggeration !
Than I got the Airport Extreme from Apple and it suddenly feels like heaven!

Trying to use this thing for anything other than a simple 4 port ethernet switch will be impossible. The web interface is the worst I have ever seen, and documentation is written by silly people. As other comment said - expect to have to read alot on the internet to get this to do anything - currently Im looking at firmware flashing with DD-WRT - after reading 30 pages of forum posts I think I will throw it out.
